Costumes then and now!

Halloween 2021 is almost here! The aisles are almost empty. Party City is super crowded and it is too late to order a costume online. Who else can help us find the perfect costume on a Monday? It has to be someone creative, traditional and cute of course! I think we need to bring in the experts for this one.  It is time to call grandma or grandpa for creative and quick costume ideas. Ask them about your parent’s costumes. Our sweet grandparents probably made their costumes right at home. If you played a sport that was your costume. Mom and Dad’s spectacular baseball, soccer or karate uniform probably was their Halloween costumes. If you were a tiny dancer or a Ballerina, that’s who you were going to be. The extra clean fresh sheets off the clothes line came in handy, too. If you look in the family scrap book you will see Aunt Alice and Uncle Tony dressed as ghosts with those sheets! It’s funny now but they were really cool ideas! A little effort and creativity went a long way back then! In the mid-eighties, I remember wearing those hard plastic face mask with the plastic costumes. The ones that ripped easily. All I can say is that it looked pretty!  Who could see out of the cut out eyes part? I believe it was even one size fits all. As the years went on the costumes changed to inspiring careers. Doctors, nurses, firemen and policemen! The variety and styles are always changing. Today’s costumes are outrageously creative! They are more detailed, customizing and fitting.
