Baltimore City- It’s Wear Red Friday! Come on out and show your community your red everything! It’s trending all over town and all around the world! A day to bring our community together for a good cause. One that saves lives everyday and we have the scoop! It’s a National event that happens every year on the first Friday in February and that happens to be today, February 4! No, it doesn’t really mean for your Sweet”heart.” You still have ten more days to celebrate with your love! Don’t worry, BBS has a sweet treat just for you on Valentine’s Day Weekend! We promise to keep you posted. You may have seen red everywhere today, especially in your doctor’s office or local hospital. Bulletin boards, billboards and social media are helping to bring awareness to residents of all ages. It’s  like 9am, where have you been? So what’s the story behind it? You will probably see almost all of your neighbors and friends in red today. Our local community is wearing red to show support for the awareness of heart disease. The color red is meant to bring much needed attention to our Nation’s leading cause of death for Americans, Heart Disease!  It’s a day of awareness to help our  dear loved ones stay heart healthy. Let’s go red, first began in 2004. Our American  Heart Association wants you to know your risks and know how to take action today. Taking control of your heart health can save your life. Cardiovascular disease is the No.1 killer of American women. Some other leading causes are hypertension which can actually double the risk of heart attack  or stroke. That’s why it is so important for you to know what the common symptoms are now. Although it is preventable, it is still considered a silent killer. Many local residents may not even know that they have high blood pressure. Especially when they are feeling fine and aren’t experiencing any symptoms! What can you do now? BBS strongly encourages our community members to visit their primary care provider and ask questions. Find out about educational programs on preventing Cardiovascular Disease.
