Books and Conversation- We are so excited to introduce our next guest to Baltimore! BBS was thrilled to have the opportunity to interview the Poet and Author, Mr. Robert L. Horton!
Can you please tell our community members a little more about yourself?
My name is Robert L. Horton and I am a poet and author from Springfield, IL. I have written 3 books of poetry, Released (2015), Miscellaneous Pieces (2017), and FAME (2020).
What inspired you to write FAME?
As a writer I am inspired by everything that life has to offer. The title of my book FAME was inspired by my youngest daughter, Amaiya. And as I was putting the book together, I noticed that the word FAME was a recurring theme in many of the poems and so I took that as confirmation to name my book FAME.
We are so intrigued, please tell us more about your book, Mr. Horton?
FAME is an inspirational book of poetry dedicated to the wonderful city of Chicago, IL and to my beautiful daughter, Amaiya. It is a book of inspirational poems on a myriad of topics

Readers should add FAME to their favorites list because between the pages of FAME they will discover poems that offer hope, healing, insight, and encouragement.
What’s next for Author and Poet, Robert L. Horton?
What’s next for me will either be a Children’s Book or another book of poetry.

A quote that I would like to share is: “If you give your past a gun it will rob you of your future.” This quote opens my book.
Which poem was your favorite to write?
My favorite poem to write was a poem titled, “The Midnight Flower.” It is a poem about a discarded flower struggling to find his way in a cold, cold world. And while on his journey, the flower discovered that the light it was looking for to grow was inside of him all along.
If you could describe your book of poetry in one word, what would it be?
One word that I would use to describe FAME would be, complete.
