Baltimore City-Local residents are gearing up for something big and BBS wants you to know about it! This week, starts off with Mardi Gras celebrations in and around town. It’s not just about the parties and the zesty seasonings and spices, we promise. This event actually started in Rome and Venice in the 17th and 18th Century! The original day is tomorrow and it is always celebrated the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. It’s so mysterious that we’ll cover this story in two parts. BBS will be back tomorrow for a special treat! Don’t be surprised if you to start to see bright colorful masks and a galore of sparkling, glittering beads. Especially in dazzling shades of purple, gold and green. Those colors represent powerful, symbolic messages and meanings. The color purple represents Justice. The Gold symbolizes Power. The green is the color of faith! All the exciting, traditional activities in the streets minus the floats, or flambeaux. Come on, we know that you’ve seen those big,?magical floats before. Which for us is called gaslight torches. So, what’s the big deal you ask? Our New Orlean neighbors are super ecstatic along with our friends and family across the states. Tomorrow marks the end of the world famous Carnival Season. A worldwide event that is also celebrated around the globe. Many of our favorites local stores, restaurants and venues are already on it. Including our local schools right here in our city! Many schools in our district are celebrating big with their students in honor of Mardi Gras. Students will enjoy a week of festivities and events throughout the week!
