The history of pound cake dates back to England in the 16th-century! It’s popular name was created from its simple ingredients. Many of which you already have in your home. All you’ll need is a pound of sugar. A pound of flour, butter and eggs! Like how creative was that? In the early 1900’s, cake baking was revolutionized by the invention of baking powder. Our grandparents preferred this baking ingredient because it made the batter more lighter to stir! When fresh out of nana’s oven, it created happy, smiling loved ones! In 2022, we can spice things up and add a little excitement to pound cakes now.  Pound cakes today come in the most amazing and mouthwatering varieties!
